Corporate Sponsorship
Southend Choirs is a registered charity (1161752) which brings singing and performance opportunities to children and young people from the age of 3 upwards.
Singing in a group has numerous benefits, including mental and physical health, self-confidence, learning and social development. It is one of the most engaging forms of self-expression which allows individuals to explore emotions, build self-esteem and develop relationships.
We make no charge to our members, there is no joining fee or membership fee, and no weekly rehearsal fees. No singer is ever denied the opportunity to sing with the choirs due to financial hardship.
We never want this to change, and that is why we would welcome your support.
Sponsorship
Southend Choirs has established a national reputation through the performances of the Southend Boys’ and Girls’ Choirs over many decades. Through our main activities and through community outreach projects, the charity works hard to create a welcoming, nurturing and fun environment where children learn and progress in their musical careers, whilst making like-minded friends and growing in independence. Furthermore, we seek to support young people in one of the most deprived areas in the country.
We offer an inexpensive way to promote your organisation within the community and to align with a registered charity that makes a difference to the lives of young people and to Southend-on-Sea.
“While most families are comfortable, poverty in childhood is comparatively high in Southend-on-Sea and has a profound impact on health and wellbeing throughout the lives of those it affects. In 2015, 25.8% (45,840 people) of Southend residents lived within areas classified as being in the 20% most deprived in England.”
– Joint Strategic Needs Assessment Summary for Southend-on-Sea, 2017
We are keen to develop strong relationships with corporate sponsors to fund individual projects or to contribute towards operational costs, such as transport to specific concerts.
Companies may be able to obtain a deduction against profits for donations given to or sponsorship of charities.
If you think your organisation may be able to help, we would love to hear from you.
Why Support Music?
“Excellent music education opens opportunities, but it is not simply a means to an end: it is also an end in itself. It gives children and young people an opportunity to express themselves, to explore their creativity, to work hard at something, persevere and shine. These experiences and achievements stay with them and shape their lives.”
– National Plan for Music Education, 2022
“Within the various research literatures, there are five main areas of reported benefit from singing. Benefits are physical, psychological, social, musical and educational. These combined benefits suggest that singing is one of the most positive forms of human activity, supporting physical, mental, emotional and social health, as well as individual development in the same areas. Successful singing is important because it builds self-confidence, promotes self-esteem, always engages emotion, promotes social inclusion, supports social skill development, and enables young people of different ages and abilities to come together successfully to create something special in the arts.”
– Prof. Graham Welch
Our work with Southend Choirs supports the National Music Plan 2022’s intentions to “ensure all pupils receive a high-quality music education, strengthen the creative pipeline and help create the musicians and audiences of the future”.
